ZEOCAT-3D participated in a dechema symposium
On 28 October 2020, CNSR, one of Zeocat-3D’s partners, participated in the DECHEMA Symposium “Workshop on Catalysis for fossil-free fuels and chemicals in Europe”. The session, organized as a satellite event to the virtual “Digital Conference on Industrial Technologies IndTech2020”, showcased different conversion routes to replace fossil fuels with sustainable resources for the production of energy and chemicals.
Following presentations from high-level academic speakers, a further analysis of the economic, environmental and social implications of shifting to non-fossil resources was discussed by the audience.
Main takeaways:
- CO2 is a key renewable feedstock for the productions of fuels and chemicals, especially to reach the ambitious targets set by the European Commission.
- Other feedstocks, like methane, are also critical for the industrial conversion.
- EU Legislation is an important tool to facilitate acceptance and adoption of new solutions in relation to lowering emissions and the shift to clean energy and clean chemical production.
- The Industrial sector has a fundamental role to play in the conversion process to a renewable energy-based economy.
